Sick of the normal BBQ’s? Then why not turn give your BBQ’s a theme! BBQ’s are perfect for adding a theme too as you are with family and friends who are there to have a good time. Add some variety and turn your everyday BBQ’s into BBQ’s people will remember. Below we have compiled a list of themed BBQ ideas to help you on your way:

Hawaiian BBQ’s

Hawaii is the island of sun, surf, surfing and sharing so why not bring a bit of that to your own backyard BBQ’s? Decorate your home or backyard with old surfboards, summer floral arrangements, palm trees (real or fake), raffia and get the summertime music playing (think Beach Boys). Make sure BBQ guests are dressed for the occasion, so there should be plenty of Hawaiian shirts, grass skirts, flower leis and strategically placed coconut shells. Fresh fruit and coconut drinks are definite menu items but when it comes to Hawaiian BBQ’s the BBQ is the perfect food preparation surface. Some Hawaiian BBQ suggestions for food include:

- BBQ hamsteaks with pineapple

- Macadamia nut crusted chicken and honey mustard dip

- Char siu pork (this is a favourite amongst Hawaiians)

- BBQed fish

- BBQed Kebabs

Accompany each of these summer inspired dishes with lots of fresh salads and cold drinks and you’ll forget all those boring BBQ’s from the past.

Wild West BBQ’s

Wild West BBQ’s should be inspired by John Wayne movies, games of cowboys and Indians and a bygone era that is great fun to replicate. If you choose a wild west theme for your next BBQ’s then make sure there are plenty of cowboy hats, costumes (e.g. cowboys, Indians, sheriff, dancing girls, the bartender, the barber), straw, hay bales (make your own by gluing hay onto cardboard boxes), tee-pees, cactus plants and don’t forget the wanted posters (use your friends faces to make them more interesting). Wild West BBQ’s are a great excuse for eating lots of tasty BBQ food, for example:

- Sausages and steaks are perfect western foods

- Fried food, e.g. chicken, hash browns, grits

- Have a pot of chilli, baked beans or a stew simmering away on your BBQ’s wok burner

- Bake a damper on your BBQ and serve with dip

- Bake potatoes on your BBQ by washing them and wrapping them in foil

- Hamburgers and hotdogs are also perfect, as long as they’re served with lots of chilli and BBQ sauce

For dessert why not create something with Wagon Wheels – perfect for all Wild West BBQ’s.

Hollywood BBQ’s

When you think of Hollywood you think of style, glamour, the rich and famous, paparazzi, jewels and more so why not treat your friends and family to a Hollywood inspired BBQ. Hollywood BBQ’s should be formal events where everyone dresses in their finest clothes. Decorate your home with lots of twinkling lights, table displays and don’t forget the red carpet.

Hollywood BBQs are perfect for games where the winner gets a fake award and must give an acceptance speech. Games that work well are singing competitions, celebrity head or best red carpet walk. Spoil your guests with finger food from the BBQ, including:

- Gourmet BBQ pizzas

- Mini sausages

- Mini steak sandwiches

- Mini hotdogs

- Mini hamburgers

- Mini fish pieces served with wasabi mayonnaise

- Gourmet kebabs

To finish your Hollywood BBQ why not serve guests chocolate covered strawberries and champagne.

Christmas in July BBQ’s

Everybody loves Christmas so why not celebrate twice a year by having Christmas in July BBQ’s and celebrate your very own white (or at least winter) Christmas. BBQ’s in winter are great, as they allow you to take advantage of a BBQ’s many capabilities, e.g. roasting, slow cooking, smoking. Decorate your BBQ’s area as though it’s Christmas. Your BBQ can act as a communal fire where guests come to warm up while they’re waiting for the food. Play Christmas carols and maybe have Secret Santa so that everyone receives a small gift. Australian Christmas BBQ’s are usually full of seafood, salads, cold meats and sausages and steaks so Christmas BBQ’s in July are perfect for:

- Roasted meats

- Turkey steak burgers

- Stuffed pork roll

- BBQed corn

- BBQ Apple pie

- Roasted chestnuts

- Glazed cooked ham

- Roasted vegetables

BBQ’s with friends and family are always a good idea, so why not put a twist on your normal BBQ’s with a Christmas inspired get together.

Pool Party BBQ’s

Pool Party BBQ’s are very similar to normal BBQ’s except there is a swimming pool. So what do you do if you don’t have a swimming pool? Improvise. Inflatable pools, water slides, sprinklers, hoses and buckets of water are all great substitutes to a pool. Pool Party BBQ’s are great for kids and adults and can include a variety of summer inspired foods including:

- Hotdogs for the kids

- BBQed Seafood kebabs

- Chicken burgers, fish burgers, Thai burgers and hamburgers

- Kebabs, e.g. chicken, pineapple and haloumi

- Macadamia crusted fish

- Coconut prawns served with mango salsa (use your BBQ’s wok burner to deep fry)

- Fried banana splits

- Apple, pineapple, banana fritters with ice-cream

The Gourmet Charcoal is our top-of-the-line double grill charcoal water smoker. It has two chrome plated steel cooking grills for a 50 pound cooking capacity. The smoker body lifts off the base for easy access to an extra-large charcoal pan, and also allows for quick and easy conversion to a waist high barbecue grill. A heat indicator in the lid eliminates guesswork. Features include porcelain coated steel water pan, front hinged door for easy access to water and charcoal pans, and wooden handles that stay cool to the touch. Includes heavy-duty outdoor vinyl cover.

Not only do these grills live up to their name, they live up to the Weber tradition of quality, performance and long life. The premium version of the classic Smokey Joe Grill, the Tuck-N-Carry features a lid lock that secures the top in place for carrying. The lid lock lowers to serve as a convenient lid holder and wind shield, a must for grilling in unpredictable weather. Dampers are located on top of the bowl for quick, safe pack-ups.Perfect for cookouts, tailgate parties, or car camping, Weber’s Smokey Joe Gold grill is the classic traveling grill. With its 14-1/2-inch-diameter grate, the Smokey Joe Gold easily cooks three steaks at a time or twice as many burgers. The porcelain-enameled bowl and lid resist rust and deliver even heat. When it’s down, the lid lock doubles as a lid holder, letting you slide the lip out of the way while you cook. And, when the feast is done, simply fasten the lid lock over the top handle, pick up, and go. As an added bonus, Weber throws in a 31-page owner’s guide filled with cooking tips and time-tested recipes for grilling everything from pork chops to bratwurst to Cornish hens.

Gas grills are considered by many to be the most convenient way to grill but unfortunately this usually means giving up great smoky flavor for convenience. The Charcoal Companion Smoker Box features a V-shape bottom which allow it to sit between the flame deflector bars of most gas grills. This positions the smoke right beneath the food grate for the most intense smoke flavor. Stainless steel smoker box has hinged lid and is reusable. Add wood chips of your flavor choice and place between the flame deflector bars on the gas grill. (wood chips not included)

Providing your family with easy dinner ideas each night is never easy. They need to include foods which the family loves an also provide the right nutrition for health. They need to be made quickly especially on the nights you work late. It must include healthy options and, above all else, taste good. The recipes listed here will give you what you are looking for in easy dinner ideas the entire family will love.

The Easy dinner ideas listed here would not be served art a gourmet restaurant but, they will give you and your family a nutritious option each night. They are simple to prepare for and do not require many ingredients. You will also not need to take much time to plan for it. You might even look forward to coming home each night just so you can prepare them.

The first of the easy dinner ideas is an old classic, barbecue chicken. It will take less than an hour to make and can feed a large family cheaply. The trick to cooking barbecue chicken is to make sure the outside does not burn while the inside is cooking through. To make sure this is accomplished, put the barbecue coating on after the chicken is cooked thoroughly and let it heat until warm.

To prepare this, preheat the oven to 300 degrees. While you are waiting for the oven to heat, take out a baking dish and add about a teaspoon of oil. You can use olive oil for a healthier option. Add your chicken pieces to the pan and coat with salt and pepper. Put the chicken in the heated oven and cook until white inside and heated to 180 degrees by meat thermometer. Mix one 16 ounce can of orange soda and 16 ounces of barbecue sauce together and coat chicken. Put back into the oven for about ten to fifteen minutes. Remove and enjoy. Add a Side salad and a baked potato or potato salad made with low fat mayonnaise and you have one of the most perfect easy dinner ideas.

One of the kids favorites as well as good eating for adults is tater tot casserole. It is super simple to create and only takes less than an hour from start to finish. It is great because it only requires the use of two pans. A pound or two of ground met such as beef, turkey, chicken, or pork needs to be cooked and browned. While this is cooking, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Take out a large baking dish and begin to cover the bottom with frozen tater tots. Drain the cooked ground meat and begin to add a layer over the tater tots.

If you like onions, you can also cut these and layer them on top of the meat. Add a layer of shredded cheese of your choice. Cover all this with cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup. Continue layering the ingredients until you reach the top. Add a final layer of cheese and cover with foil. Put into the oven until the casserole is heated through. Take off the foil and let sit in the oven for a minute to make it brown. Serve each person and enjoy. It goes great with a fresh salad and a nice large glass of milk.

An essential addition to every grill jockey’s library, Beer-Can Chicken presents 75 must-try beer-can variations and other offbeat recipes for the grill. So pop a cold one and have fun.Steven Raichlen’s Beer-Can Chicken tells everything one should ever need to know about roasting a chicken upright on top of a can of beer. For those who find that premise strange or silly (Raichlen, in fact, thanks his publisher for being “wacky enough” to produce the book), the author describes beer-can chicken as “the perfect bird, crackly crisp, succulent within … the most flavorful chicken you’ve ever tasted.”Raichlen’s goal is to encourage grillers to have fun and use their imagination, and he presents 74 “offbeat recipes” as starting points. Notable selections include Beer-Can Turkey, which requires a giant 32-ounce can of Foster’s to do the job; Welder’s Chicken, a stewing hen wrapped in aluminum foil and turned with welder’s gloves; Dirty Steaks, cooked right on the coals; and Diabolical Chicken, soaked with spicy French mustard and which Raichlen makes “whenever I’m short on time or fancy ingredients but want to impress the hell out of my guests.” There are also recipes for “beerless birds” (Ginger Ale Chicken, Black Cherry Soda Chicken), side dishes, and desserts, as well as info on grilling techniques and equipment.A chicken straddling a beer can, at the very least, makes a great conversation piece at an outdoor beer bash. Raichlen’s most helpful hint? Make sure the beer can is open before putting it on the grill. –Andy Boynton

It doesn’t have to cost you a lot of cash to make your BBQ memorable. Remember — most people expect burgers and potato salad. So any different food is good. And if you follow our cheap barbecue party ideas you can impress your guests for very little money.

First off I must state that there is certainly nothing at all wrong with burgers and potato salad. I love them both and all weekend griller’s barbeque parties should have a good selection of these and other basics. But just a few other cheap barbecue party food ideas during planning can save your food — and your parties — from boring repetition.

Here are five cheap and easy food ideas you can try immediately to make you next barbeque party memorable and fun:

1) One word — Condiments! Everyone has ketchup and mustard. Occasionally you see a lonely bottle of Tabasco. But for very little money or effort you can add a rainbow of variety to your table and impress your guests. Visit a specialty store or good supermarket and pick up some bottles of unusual barbeque sauces or hot sauces for the table. Do not just paint the meat on the grill — give your guests a choice on the table. Today’s barbeque and hot sauces come in a wide variety of flavors and heat levels and there is something for (almost) everyone. Consider the food you are serving and other sauces that may complement it. If you are serving pork consider a white BBQ sauce or horseradish sauce. If you are serving fish consider a sweet barbeque sauce or a Vietnamese or Japanese fish sauce.

2) Salsa — Not just for corn chips anymore! Several years ago salsa took over the number-one-selling condiment spot in America from ketchup but most people still think of it as just a dip for chips or a covering for Mexican foods. Salsa is — and can be — so much more. Consider visiting a Farmers’ Market or specialty supermarket the day of the BBQ and picking up a fresh salsa. Or better still, yet spend an hour or so the night before the party and make a batch of homemade salsa. It’s really very easy. And don’t just stick with the basic tomato/pepper salsa — be brave and try a fruit or a veggie based salsa. Choose your salsa based on the meat and vegetables you will be serving and invite your guests to cover these foods for a new taste experience.

3) It’s almost embarrassing how much good will and praise a simple salad will gather. As cheap barbeque party ideas go, this is one of the best. Everyone does potato and macaroni salad. Ask your neighbors to bring a dish and you’ll probably get 3 of each. You can impress everyone to no end by making up a colorful and easy pasta or fruit salad that not only looks great but tastes great, too. Add some grilled items into it at the last minute for a very special touch.

4) Sides — Go beyond the salad! So you’ve brought your beautiful (though cheap) salad. But now think beyond to other side dishes. What springs to mind? If you are like most people – corn on the cob comes to mind. There is nothing wrong this. But to really impress your guests think of adding one or two other unusual sides that will complement the main course. And remember that sides don’t have to be just veggies. Think of the possibilities of fruits, shellfish and even meats.

5) Desserts – Why not use the fire? Okay, you gotta have desserts. You’ll probably want something cool (homemade ice cream, maybe?) and some sweets to keep the kids happy. But since the fire is still warm why not consider really wowing your friends by making an additional dessert or two on the grill. Make homemade ice cream (always a reasonably cheap choice) AND grilled dessert to go with it and you will be considered a party god for many years.

Since most barbeque parties feature the same basic foods, these cheap party food ideas will help any weekend griller to impress their guests. Do it well and your neighbors will invite you to every party and beg for an invitation to yours.

You’ve been invited to a housewarming party of a very close friend and his/her family and you don’t know what to give them for their new home.

Should you give a doormat with a “Welcome” on it? How about a gift basket with your friend’s favorite wine and chocolates? Or a wall clock perhaps? Too common?

It’s true that buying for someone else’s home may be difficult especially if you are also tied onto a strict budget. If you have set a budget for a housewarming gift, you don’t need to worry about the item that you can get with a limited amount. The key is creativity and you can find housewarming gifts that are creative, unique and less than $50.

Here are some ideas:

Gourmet Gift Baskets

Okay, if you think that gift baskets are not creative enough, think again. You can either look online for these or create your own to personalize the contents. Think outside of the box and think of what your friend and his/her family enjoy munching and using in the kitchen. This is one sure way of pleasing everyone and they will appreciate you for that.

You can get the entire family a basket filled with cookies, wine, cheeses, fruits and add-ons such as kitchen utensils, cutlery, shot glasses or coasters. As for the basket, you can replace the regular wicker basket with a picnic basket or a colorful canvass tote bag that the lady of the house can use for her grocery shopping.

Picture Gallery Frames

These are really great for hanging on the walls of a new house. If you have photos of the family, you can frame them already before you give them the gift. This is truly a thoughtful gift especially if you have access to some of their photos.

Photo frames may sound too regular, but this type of photo frame can be a conversation piece or a focal point in the home since it showcases the family which makes the gift really homey.

Barbecue and Grilling Tools

You’ll never know when your friend’s family will have a barbecue party at their backyard. So be the first to give them the tools of the trade. If you have the budget for it, you can give the entire set- barbecue grill and all. Barbecue tools are great gift since these are very useful and practical to have especially for families and their new homes. Make sure to get the essential tools or might as well give them a set with barbecue brush, tongs, spatula and long grilling fork.

Herb Garden

Now, don’t be discouraged to give your friend’s family a living thing. Relax, it’s only herbs and your friend will truly need it for cooking. You may look for a set of 3 herbs planted in individual pots or you can buy them individually and just create your own set. You can find these on the internet if you’ll browse for creative housewarming gifts. If you’re not internet savvy, you can look for these in your regular farmer’s market or from a local herb store.

Personalized Coat Hangers

Coat hangers are quite underrated. But you may find some of them that are all jazzed up and personalized via online gift stores. You can order and have them personalized by adding your friend’s last name or their initials to it.

It’s really fun to buy something for a friend’s house. Don’t be discouraged of the prices and the items that you can find offline or online because there are creative gifts that you can give away without putting too much effort and price on it.

Preparing something new and tasty each and every evening isn’t a piece of cake as moms need to include foods that all members of the family like but the tastes usually aren’t the same. Working moms need to make quick meals as the time is limited. Other things that mothers must take into consideration regard the fact that the foods must be not only tasty but also healthy.

We will continue this article by giving a hand to mothers from all over the world. These dinner ideas aren’t for gourmet restaurants but for a pleasant family evening as they are very simple to prepare and don’t require a large amount of ingredients. The first idea we present is a classic one – barbecue chicken. This recipe can be done in less than one hour and can feed your entire family at almost no costs. The trick to cook this recipe is to make sure that you don’t burn the outside while the inside of the chicken is through. In order to accomplish this, you must put the barbecue coating on after the chicken is cooked thoroughly and let it heat until warm.

In order to prepare this recipe, preheat your oven at 300 degrees and while you are waiting for the oven to reach this temperature, you must take out a baking dish and add a teaspoon of oil. As a healthier option, you could use a teaspoon of oil. Add the chicken pieces to the pan and coat with salt and pepper to acquire the desired taste. Next, insert the chicken in the heated oven and cook it until white inside and heated to 180 degrees by meat thermometer. Afterwards, mix a 16 ounce can of orange soda and 16 ounces of barbecue sauce together and coat the chicken. Your next step will be to put the chicken back into the oven for another 10-15 minutes. Remove from oven and enjoy. Adding a side salad and/or a baked potato can enhance the taste.

Tater tot casserole is the kids’ favorite and it is very simple to prepare. It only takes less than one hour to prepare it and you will need just only two pans to prepare it. A pound or even two pounds of meat like chicken, turkey, pork or beef to be cooked and browned. While the meat is cooking, preheat your oven at 350 degrees. Next, take a big baking dish and start covering the bottom with frozen tater tots. Afterwards, drain the meat and start to add a layer over the tater tots.

Adding onions might do the trick for you and your family. You also have the possibility to add a layer of shredded cheese and cover all of this with cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup. You must continue layering the ingredients until you reach the top. The final layer should be a cheese one. After layering, cover with foil and insert into the oven until it is heated thorough. Your last step would be to take off the foil and let it sit in the oven for approximately one minute in order to make it brown. Adding a fresh salad along with a glass of milk will further improve the taste.

All things considered, cooking dinner shouldn’t give mothers a headache each and every single night as with little imagination and planning, dinner can be tasty again.

Chicken on a beer can? You bet! When Steven Raichlen, America’s barbecue guru, says it’s the best grilled chicken he’s ever tasted, cooks stop and listen. An essential addition to every grill jockey’s library, Beer-Can Chicken presents 75 must-try beer-can variations and other offbeat recipes for the grill. Recipes such as Saigon Chicken with Lacquered Skin and Spicy Peanut Sauce, Root Beer Game Hens, Beer-Can Turkey (uses the 32-ounce Foster’s), Stoned Chicken (it’s grilled under a brick), Dirty Steak, Fish on a Board (Salmon with Brown Sugar Glaze), Mussels Eclade-grilled under pine needles, Grilled Eggs, Wacky Rumaki, Rotisseried Garlic Rolls-even Grilled Yellow Pepper Soup will have your mouth-watering. Whether on a can, on a stick, under a brick, in a leaf, on a plank, or in the embers, each grilling technique is explained in easy-to-follow steps, with recipes that guarantee no matter how crazy the technique, the results are always outstanding.

What are you going to do to make this year’s photo Christmas cards really stand out? You don’t have to fall back on the same old ideas this holiday. Here are ten suggestions to help you make this season’s family greeting the best one yet.

1. Try a different spin on a traditional theme. This fall take a picture of the kids with a pumpkin snowman. Just stack three pumpkins, graduating in size with the biggest on the bottom and their stems removed. Paint a face on the top pumpkin, carve a small hole to hold the carrot nose, then put a Santa hat or wool cap on top and add a scarf. If you live near the beach, you can make a sand snowman instead.

2. Transform an ordinary photo Christmas card into a religious one by adding your favorite Bible verse. Look for a company that will let you create your own personalized message, instead of just sticking with the text shown on the sample.

3. Nothing is cuter than a holiday greeting that contains a photo of an adorable animal in a seasonal setting. The easiest way to achieve this look yourself is to take a picture of your sleeping dog or cat on top a sheet of wrapping paper or under the tree. Add the caption, “peace on earth” and wait for the “aaaahs”.

4. Create a four seasons look with a multi photo Christmas card that has space for four photos. Then choose pictures of your kids from the past year during the winter, spring, summer and fall. Personalize it with the words, “thinking of you at Christmas…and all year, too!”

5. Is your little one a budding artist? He or she can help you to create a really unique holiday greeting. Ask him to draw a picture of the family with crayons. Then, it’s your turn to cut out the faces of each family member from snapshots and glue them to the top of the crayon bodies. Take a close up photo of the masterpiece for this year’s card.

6. Are you famous for your holiday baking? If you’re always being asked for the recipe for one of your seasonal goodies, you can turn that into a fun photo Christmas card. Write out the directions on a pretty recipe card, then clip a family photo onto the card, perhaps of the kids baking cookies. Be careful not to cover any of the instructions with that picture. You might want to add the words, “wishing you a sweet Christmas”.

7. For impact, try black and white with a touch of color. Your favorite photo with the kids in Santa hats can be changed into an artistic black and white picture with just the Santa hats in red. Most online photo Christmas card companies will do this for you at no extra charge.

8. Make a statement. What makes your family tick? Are you a bunch of beach bums, taking advantage of sun and surf every possible moment in the summer? Then include photos in your holiday greeting of the kids playing in the waves and building sand castles. Are you all sports enthusiasts? Then feature action shots of your children playing for their team. Are you involved in animal rescue, active in politics, big on barbecues, busy selling homemade jewelry at craft shows, passionate about your faith? Find a way to work it into your pictures. This year, instead of a posed portrait, give people a glimpse into your family dynamics.

9. Send a holiday greeting that takes a trip down memory lane. For this idea, you will need to select Christmas cards that feature multiple photos. Choose your current favorite family picture and then add one or more photos of the kids when they were younger for a then and now effect. You might want to ask the card company to change the older photos to black and white or make the current picture larger than the rest. Don’t forget to add captions underneath indicating the year the photographs were taken.

10. If you’re still looking for a fresh idea for this year’s Christmas greeting, then it’s time to browse. Start searching through the huge variety of designs in photo holiday cards online until you find one in particular that inspires you. Maybe it’s a candy cane motif and you’ll think of posing the kids with comically oversized candy canes. Or you’ll fall in love with one that has a pale blue background with snowflakes, which might lead you to dress the family in shades of blue. Many times, it’s easier to pick out the card first, which will set the tone for the pictures you want to include.

This year you can have an amazing photo Christmas card that gets rave reviews from friends and relatives. All it takes is a little inspiration and thought to make this season’s greeting a one of a kind expression of your family.
